Hey All,

I’m looking to improve my suspension/comfort of my ride so I’m selling my 18’ inch GMax rims and looking to get smaller/lighter wheels to improve comfort and performance. Does anyone here have any experiences with the WORK EMOTION CR Kai wheels? I been hearing a lot about them, but are they worth their weight in gold? And what size would be ideal for a 98 VTi-R… 15” or 17”?

Cheers,

Rik

I dont have any experience with them but I personally am a big fan of them.

I too will be looking at buying some decent rims in the not too distant future and these are currently one of the rims I have shortlisted.

As for the size I would probably look at going for 16s for your VTi-R.

I was looking at some pricing and its only a $100 difference to go from a set of 16" to a set of 17"s. Is there much difference in terms of performance you think between 16" & 17"?

I got some!

One of the best priced jap wheels on the market. I've got 17s on my s15, but I wish I went bigger.

I've seen 17's on a type r before and IMO was the peerrffect size. Performance wise, sure you can tell the difference on track if your pushing hard, but in the real world, all you'll notice is that the ride will be bumpier as you'll have to run lower profile tyres.

*edit* After re-visiting your post on the sussy upgrade on your car, I'd say definitely get the 17's since your not planning to track you car and you're going for a comfy suspension set-up.

Hey denka, thanks for your input. I have a black vti-r and i think the 17" in gunmetal would look alright!

But having 18" with low profile tyres now, i'd be happy with any amount of extra tyre! Hehe.

What colour are your rims? You got any pics to show people?

Cheers.

IMHO 15s or 16s on DC2 :)

IMHO 15s or 16s on DC2 :)

Hebe, is that because of the performance or comfort factor or both?

I personally think 16's might be a wise choice financially... correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't tyres for the 16’s be cheaper than those for 17’ Low Profiles?

The smaller the lighter, cheaper the tyre and rim as well as more comfort.

What JFOX has said...your car isn't very quick so I wouldn't be putting on so much dead weight on the car anyways...

and yes, 16s would be cheaper then 17s in term of tyres, plus personally I think 17s don't look right on a DC2 as opposed to 15/16s a lot of people go 16s as they get aftermarket brake setup and need bigger rims to clear the setup

you are correct and basically answer your own question.
go the 16s

from your other threads you mentioned you have a dc2 vtiR.
so the typical choice here is 17x7 or 16x7
there is no real benifit of having 205/40/17 over 205/45/16

yumcha tyres in 17s are just as cheap as 16s.
better tyres in 16s are a bit cheaper than 17s equiv

16's for shizzle! Please don't get 17's. sorry just my opinion. I was looking at Work emotion Cai's, for my DC2, they are awsome. Just dunno if they will suit.

For me it was either:

Which also come in white and silver.

OR... work emotion cai's

Just something extra for you to compare. :) goodluck with the rims.

Thanks for the pics VTECMACHINE. I think it makes sense to go with 16's not only will they offer better performance/comfort but also financially.

I'm looking to setup my car with new shocks & springs too so if i can save a few bucks with the wheels then that a bouns.

.... go 16 inch.

I have both 15's and 16's and 17's are too big, too heavy etc.

15 oem wheels just feel too small and are too skinny.

16 would be about perfect.

man so many choices... i did photoshop job with the Work wheels on my teg and it didn't look so good. Now i'm thinking of going either Buddy Club P1 Racing SF or just the Buddy Club P1 Racing.

The buddy clubs look good on the teg's and they are pretty well priced for jap wheels.
