So, I'm going fekkin crazy here without a ride, so the decision has been made to get back on the circuit by about Feb '07 Except there are so many choices, I'm going nuts!!!

*Must be FR
*Must be available (or could be swapped to) manual
*Must be light
*JDM (is a plus derr)
*Budget is 20k (ish)
*Must have a little money left for light mods

For that Budget, Id be choosing between the last 3 on your list.

FC I rekon is the winner

Added the budget to your poll question, because I clicked R32 GT-R without realising your budget was 20K. So I'd agree with Questlove, myself. If you're at 20k, a GT-R is so not a good idea.

Narrowing it down, I'd go for the MX5. Don't the older rotaries need some hardcore regular maintenance? Maybe that's just what I've heard. *shrug*

S14.

No doubt.

SOOO much aftermarket support for it that its not funny. A lot quicker around a track than an mx5 as well.

If you don't want quick lap times though, yeah an MX5 would be fun.

Careful of the FCs. Rotaries need a rebuild every 160,000kms ot 15yrs and unless an FC has already had a recent rebuild (and you wanna see receipts btw) there is a 100% chance that you will need one in the first few mths of ownership. There is a reason why they are so cheap :D

Id be looking at an S14A.

Big fan of that shape and a great base for a circuit car.

Also as others have said the FC's gonna be a bitch if it hasnt already had a rebuild. As far as im aware they are also very expensive to run?

What, you reckon you'd you get a choice R32 GT-R for 20k? I reckon you'd be in for a lot of bloody work and money if you bought one for that much.

MX5 !

But with the mx5 u got the choice of the model's (seen below):
http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/1685/sbm1.jpg
Engines:
NA: NA6-1.6, NA8-1.8
NB: 1.8
NC: 2.0

and being $20k budget u could get a perfect NA with plenty of cash left over :) or get a NB with not much money left at all.

Hope this helps :)

*Must be FR - YES
*Must be available (or could be swapped to) manual - YES
*Must be light - HELL YES (NA = 960kg)

S14 or MX5 for me ..... more likely s14, as it'd be more userfriendly than an mx5 with a manual roof.

depends if you want NA or turbo power...

NA: i reckon, ae86 or the MX5, especially the 1.8l NA model

turbo: maybe the R32, or a well looked after FC...

Buy a crappy MX-5, turbo it and that will be a track weapon.
