Actually there were quite a few.
Stunticons, Insecticons, Constructicons and a few others for the Decepticons.
Aerialbots, Protectobots, Dinobots etc for the Autobots.

Of these, the Dinobots were in the movie and I think the Aerialbots made an appearance or 2 in the series.

Hahah I think I might bring out my Protectobot and Aerialbot sets out again and play with them now with all this Transformers talk. Still more of a M.A.S.K. fan though 8).

bumblebee looks different because volkswagon wouldn't allow them to use a beetle, so he is now a camaro

I went and visited her office and got a sneak peak at the style guide though, heaps of images in there that we haven't seen online yet! Frankly, most of them suck, haha. I dunno, I'm too much of a traditional TF fan I guess; I can't handle all these stupid redesigns.

Anyway, she got invited to a special 20 minute screening of scenes from the movie! So jealous :(

If it were meant to be something other than Transformers, then yeah I'd love that design. If it were for some crazy futuristic movie with massive killer robots, heck yea. But if folks are gonna tell me that that makes a better Transformer than the original design, then the world's gone to hell.

It's like... Metallica's "Load" album. It wasn't a shit album, it just wasn't what we expect from Metallica. If it were some new band, I think folks woulda liked it. But when faced with the fact that it's a completely new image for a much-loved and perfectly good product/brand/style, that's when it hurts. As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm not a traditionalist, I do enjoy evolution in design. Just look at my adoration of the Mustang concept that Italdesign made. But when you take just about everything from the previous version and toss it out the window, that's when you break hearts for no good reason.

I got goosebumps. I dont know why, but the whole "real life" thing reminded me of i-Robot (which i thought was a suprisingly good movie) mixed with Terminator 2 (one of the best to this day). This could be the next big cgi/sci-fi movie for years to come.
