Just popped over there for the first time yesterday. First impressions are very favourable. Had a bit of a chat with Indy, knowledgable with the MR2s, HIDs, and Exhausts (the things I talked about). Seems like a genuinely nice guy, very friendly and helpful. Will reserve judgement about workmanship until my exhaust arrives and is installed in 6 weeks. :)

Just wondering if you guys would do mechanical work such as replacing wheel bearings?
I would prefer to take my business to someone reputable and that supports the community.

All I have to say...

All the guys at ISMR are absolute CHAMPS! Thanks for doing my Dif, syncro's and Clutch for such a reasonable price. I love all the new parts, and the work seems to be amazing.
I have been coming here for ages, but since I have started to work fulltime, I have not been able to make it all the way to ISMR - but the experience was great again.
Would recommend to anyone!!!

I have alot of time for the boys at ISMR. I mean, I travel all the way from newcastle to get my car serviced with them. I cant reccommend them enough...

They did an AWSOME job on my evo, and are very helpful, willing to answer any and all of my questions...

THANKS GUYS!

Regards,
Alex

I went to the most recent ISMR dyno day - it was fun. I dont know for other people but i think $50 is a bit much for a dyno run. I say its expensive because there is many others paying for it as well so they would take in a decent amount of money on that day.

Yes i realise in the first post you said you would charge a discounted rate - the above is just my thoughts ;)

$50 bucks is the norm for dyno days regardless of where you go. In alot of cases $50 is about $5 cheaper then most other places. It isn't cheap to run a dyno day as there are atleast 2-3 people needed to run the dyno, also not inc power etc... for it all.

Not flaming you, just wanted to give you some more insight into whats involved in running a dyno day.

Agree, $50 is the standard 'cheap' rate. I know places doing $80 dyno runs.

dynos cost a lot of money
so does the 3 phase power to run them

is motor racing are the only ones allowed to touch my car
my engine is built, serviced, tuned and cable tied by them exclusively :)

VTECMACHINE

LOL Cable tied... Nah... really... Pauli would never use cable ties :P

ISMR FTW.

VTECMACHINE

If it has been done... ISMR will be able to do it. Give them a call though and ask man. Best way to go about it. Or go in and speak to Indy.

Tonba
25-08-08, 10:18 AM
Ahhh, yes. I know what ya talking about now. =D

I know my major service cost me $755 at ISMR. But that included alot!

-Engine Oil & Filter (Royal Purple + Genuine Ralliart Filter)
-AYC Flushed, Bleed + Replace Fluid
-Gearbox / Transfer Case / Front Diff Flush + Replace Fluid (Diaqueen)
-Rear Diff Flushed + Replace Fluid
-Clutch + Brake Fluid Flushed + Replaced Fluid
-Supply + Fit Four Spark Plugs

Took 5 hours to service. So was worth it. Lots of work and fluids there. They also did a brilliant and tedious job of making sure all the old fluids were flushed out of the drive chain...

Thanks again ISMR! Ill be going there again next week to get my gearbox and engine oils serviced. =D

Just noticed this post....

Appreciate your thoughts, but bear in mind that most of ISMR's Dyno Day's have been held on a Sunday with 3-4 staff members involved.

So once you factor in labour, I wouldn't be surprised if Indy makes much at all - trust me, I know because I'm the one running them

$50 has always been the going rate for a Dyno Day......and I've been attending and involved with them since 2001.

ISMR charges $55 because it also includes a BBQ lunch with drinks - pretty decent if you ask me

Any other Sydney Tuner will charge you an average of $90 for a power run, any day of the week. The sole purpose of our 'Dyno Days' is to bring customers and like minded individuals together, to share a common interest - cars.

Our days are usually pretty lax with always a great turn out in my opinion. Friends come by to not only put their car on and check that all is in order, but to put a face to the forum name that keeps them company late at night.......or at work during the day

These days bring together people from all walks of life. Personally, I treat them like the above......check my AFR/Boost is OK and kick back and talk shit. And Dyno Days bring out the competitiveness in some, but hey......whatever floats your boat, take it to the track and see how you 'win' etc etc etc...

Besides, Indy is very generous when it comes to Dyno Day's. He'll go above the norm and check certain variables that others won't......and if you ask nicely, you get more than 2-3 power runs. ;)

Hope that has explained why ISMR charges $55 and why we hold them...next one is in June 09! :D
