    Canon 450D (replaced my 300D)
    + non IS kit lenses
+ generic tripod (to be replaced with Manfrotto)
    + 2x external flashes (canon)
    + 4gb SD card

Comments: The 450D is a huge leap from my old 300D, the flash doesn't blow out every single photo, the larger screen is great, live view is a nice feature although its not that useful since you can't autofocus whilst in live view... Got the black model, as the 300D was silver and it looked 10 years old after 6 months haha

Do you have any problems with the standard flash? Mine was super bright and no amount of compensation would fix it... I used to put pieces of paper over the flash until i got a 420EX

It wasn't so much that it was too bright, +/-2EV of flash exposure compensation was enough for me. But because of its small size and sitting so closely to the lens, you'd get a horrible deer-caught-in-the-headlights look with all your photos anyway (not to mention epic redeye).

It would have been nice if you could diffuse it in some way.

Same reason I bought mine, the 430 has a built in pull down diffuser too (not sure about the 420)

I've noticed that alot of the Canon guys are using grips, any other reason for this other than the obvious? (I know some have the vertical shutter button on) I just ask because my battery doesn't seem to want to die?
If you ride a single speed and nobody sees you, is it still cool?

i shoot mainly fashion ... so shooting without a vertical grip feels awkward.

I also find for the bigger lenses (even the 24-70) it makes the camera feel better balanced.
