What's JDMST policy on this?
I have a working streaming video link of Series 12 Top Gear special and was wondering if it were okay to create a thread dedicated to it.

It's a grey area for me. I tend to support it when it comes to materials that are difficult to get a hold of legitimately, which season 12 of Top Gear would technically be. Materials that can be easily bought should in my opinion generally not be shared on JDMST.
That said, that's my own perspective. I don't think we've put down a concrete rule yet. Suffice it to say, if you post up a link to season 12 of Top Gear, I'm not going to penalise you for it.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure that free-to-air-TV isn't bound by the same piracy as movies/programs etc.

It is illegal if you like it or not.
Yeah, I've never heard anything about TV being legal to record and share. They might not necessarily pursue it as hardcore as film studios and record labels do, but as far as I know it's no less illegal.
I'm simply saying that if TV studios like BBC aren't going to make entire seasons of Top Gear easily available to buy, then I've got no sympathy for their rights. It's still illegal to share recorded versions of their shows, but I'm not personally going to - until Justin makes a ruling on it - penalise anyone for sharing it here.
But ONLY stuff that is hard to get/buy legitimately.
