Are you leaving the ammonia test to run its full timeframe before comparing the results to the chart? I think that brand is either 5 or 10 minutes? The test kit I'm using at the moment is 20 minutes!
10 days ago I had readings of 0.25 ammonia, 0.50 nitrite and 0.50 nitrate. I was going for a holiday for those 10 days so I done a 20% water change and used a gel feeder thing for the 5 mollies. When I came back home I tested and I have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 5.0 nitrate.
Done another 20% water change and still have 0 ammonia and nitrite but with 4.0 of nitrate, think its finally cycled

man...my 4ft tank only have 3 clown loaches in it...cant find any cheap saratogas to buy!! need to buy some blood parrots as well!
I've got 3 loaches in my 4 footer too lol
lol, what else u planning to put into ur tank?
Will add a Pleco of some kind (sailfin or something else)
Might aim for a community setup, I like African cichlids but meeh
sounds like a good plan =) im going to get saratoga and blood parrots or maybe discus
