updated first post..
hey guys..
This is my car, its a 1990 manual 1.6. I bought the car late january after being blown away with the handleing, power not so much but eh. Was pretty much stock apart from strut brace and na8 front brakes. A near rear window for the car was added and both gearboots were done as they was a hell of alot of heat coming from there.
when i bought it
Destroyed gearboots.. would explain the heat
After a week of driving it my car overheated because the thermo fan connection came loose on the way home. I didnt think it would be that bad but once my mechanic looked over it he said the head was warped . Not what i wanted to hear at all. So i decided to get a low km long nose engine instead.
While deciding when to get this done i bought some wheels. O.G oldskool wheelsfrom jdm yard. Once the wheels were bought i decided to take it in to mx5 plus in geebung to get it all sorted. Things that was getting done. New engine, new engine mounts, new clutch, new thermos, air con working again and a few small things here and there.
test fitting wheels
The car is still currently in the shop now and i thought it would be a good time for my coilovers. I decided to go with bc coilovers because i havent heard anything bad and for the price they are, they offer alot of adjustability and good quality design.
Coilovers in![]()
Just recieved the car back and im absolutely stoked.. who said money cant buy happinessAs soon as i got the car i took it for a long and deserving drive just to get a feel for the car.I also got mx5plus to install my coilovers because i thought it would be better to get it done by someone that knows alot more and will do a far better job..
this is how the car sat when i got it back yesterday..
Since i had a pretty much new car again i couldnt wait any longer to get the tires on. I got kuhmo ku31's in 195/50/15r. The fitment was perfect and i couldnt be more happier with the result. The tires themselves are brilliant, they offer great grip in wet and dry and are great bang for buck.
Once the car got home with the new wheels and tires on..![]()
My future mods for this car are pretty limited but just to clean it up a bit and handle a bit better.. (not that it can get much better lol) they include front sway bar, and maybe i tiny bit more bracing.. but im wrapped with how it drives now. Since i havent really had time to actually drive it since i got it so thats all i wanna do now.. try and finds some nice roads and let loose..![]()
I will put better pics up later but this is it for now.
big thanks to danny and reece at mx5plus i cant recommend them enough, JDM yard, Just jap and Jax quickfit at aspley

looking good mate...perhaps its time to get a new camera![]()
Nicely done, money well spent !
haha yeh well they were just from my phone.. got a mate that took pics today so when he sends them over ill post them up..
Nice car. If you want cheap mods, can't go past under body bracing (Lower control arm, rear subframe), also a BMC brace is a great mod; to date my most noticeable (in terms of improved feel) apart from suspension.
I quite like it with the stock rims, looks tough lol.
Nonetheless, awsum ride man
looks good man. were you the dude that was checking out that grey mr2?
I'm Eddie one of Rorys mates.
Good buy man. should come to one of the meets.
yeh dude thats me.. i was actually suppose to get the car back on tuesday but since a few things went wrong i couldnt make it.. ill be at the next one though..
cheers for the kind words guys
I am capped so it took FOREVER to get these pics up hahaha you know i <3 the car man, do want

ok so yesterday as i was making the trip down to the goldie for work .. first time with the new tires and wheels and i found my car was getting increasingly hard to keep in a straight line.. i was gonna give the tire guy a call when i got to work but it go so bad i was starting to swerve.. so i pulled over and found smoke coming out from the front right wheel well and the tire flat.
As it was still 6am in the morning and taking my spare out to fit parts in from mx5 plus the day before i was left without a spare.. meaning that i had to get it towedturns out there was a massive chunk missing from where the tire seals to the wheel.. which would explain the flat tire lol
got given a tire from the tire place down the coast to get me through and new tire will be on tomorrow![]()
hopefully nothing else happens
Unlucky there buddy.
Have you thought about removing the rear mudflaps? I rekon it looks more clean without it on.
yeh i was going to do it in the first place.. i reckon it would make the rear look alot better but then again.. it wont be easy for cops to pick up.. will probably do it though![]()
looks awesome, bl about the tyre though!
