Nissan Cube intro and discussion thread

I've bought one off YAJ for next to nothing, when it arrives i'll be taking it to nissan to get it coded up.

does it costa lot to get it coded up froma dealer? i heard it costs a lot no?
how much is the key again roughly if anyone has any ideas?

Mine is a BGZ11... potentially why it has sway bar linkage mounts on it, when the Micra doesn't? Is that the possible difference between the BGZ11 and BZ11... apart from length?

All i really wanna see on the BC's, is the sway bar linkage.

i was going to change and get K12 micra struts then micra lowering spring as the cube springs wont fit the front struts off a micra.. different dia at the base..
kyb do a K12 micra strut for $120 odd
however as for your question in the photo on page 2 of this thread..

it states that the only difference between the 2 struts are the support sizes thus why needing to change to the micra spring also..

bought genuine nissan rear brake shoes the other week as spent so much time on the phone stuffing around with repco and auto one and so on trying to find aftermarket ones.. turns out the genuine ones were only $80 from hornsby nissan.. they are quite helpful up there.. getting my aircon pressure switch ordered to fix the A/C in time for summer to keep the wife happy..
fixed the rear left wheel bearing the other week.. that was a bit of a pain.. but its done now..
So since my rear right door solenoid has never worked was going to buy one, but ppl saying they have sprayed them?? does this work??
also was wanting to change the front discs.. are they Tiida or K12 micra.. ?? and if anyone has done the tranny fluid how much did they use as i would pref to only have to buy one 4L bottle of matic J coz its $70 a bottle.. i know my M35 stagea capacity was around 8 or 9 liters

loving all the cubes on here.. we have had ours for a year and havent really done anything to it..except install yellow foggies, and maintenance (bloody mortgage) hoping to get some wheels on soon.. so over hubcaps its the first car i have ever owned with hubcaps...

i think 17x7.5 +42 offset ill have to double check the offset...only running a 195 wide tyre with a nice amount of stretch

How reliable are the CVT transmissions? Anyone had issues with them yet? I was checking out some cubes this weekend and none of the dealers I visited had any 1.5l CVT cubes or cubics. Two of the dealers claim that they don't like to sell them because the CVT gearboxes are prone to problems. One guy even told me that he's had two CVT gearboxes blow up.
I was just wondering if anyone here can backup these claims. Or if this is just a case of dealers pushing to sell only what they have in stock.

I have had my CVT 1.4l for 6 months now. No issues. You just need to use the exact oil for the CVT box oil change. The CVT's in the nissans are much better than other brands. Also the cube is a low power/torque engine, so it's very gentile on the CVT box. I reckon no worries.. Go for it.

I have CVT 1.4L version i smash that thing weekly making trip from sydney to newcastle havent had an issue yet

...also i've had my 1.5 CVT for just about a year now... never a problem... actually i just came back from a 250km drive to the country... no worries

Thanks for all the responses guys. After doing my reading around here and seeing a few mentions about the guys at IMG, I visited them this morning to test drive a cubic. Dead keen to get one now, just gotta find the right one!
