hey all,
i thought i would start a progress thread on my project car, a twincam 1976 celica.
ive owned her for 9 months, brought it interstate in not great condition, and in a horrible shade of purple.
since then, ive stripped it repaired the smash in the front it had from purchase, pulled the engine out, gave it a freshen up, sprayed the engine bay black. tuned the side draughts, cut out all the rust (there was lots) reshaped body lines that had been bogged over (for whatever reason who knows) picked up a set of 15X8 Impul Promesh's and the car has just been pushed into the spray booth to be high filled, primered and painted in Mclaren Orange.
the idea behind the car is to modify it, whilst staying true to the 1970's in japan, simple fun is the ultimate goal, you know, 1970's fun, light, twin carbs, slidin round corners fun
the engine is in quite good condition at the moment, running nicely and the 18RG has enough poke to not be boring. so i plan on getting her reliable and neat, with everything sorted bar the engine, then in 6 months once i have some more dosh(bodywork has sent me broke) pull it off the road and build a more serious engine. anyway, pictures are worth a thousand words so thanks for taking a look at my thread! i hope i can provide an interesting read! pics are out of date by a few weeks. camera is broken.
the colour vvvv

ive always loved these cars.. nice example and keen to see the outcome... my mates got a silver one with MA61's but only with the 18rc.. How does the 18rg go?
Yes! A build threadI will be watching this, from what you've said it's going to turn out awesome!
well enough, its not a rocket but its puts a smile on my face every time i here it chug into lifeand its got plenty of torque. a heap better then an 18RC
everyone should get one!! in 6 months time ill aim for 90-100 kw atw, which isnt loads but itll be a fun reliable figure i think, they can be made quite light aswell, standard they seem to be about the 70kw atw mark, depending in if its a G/GU/GUE (mines an 18R-GU)
