Why acid dipped ? For the finish? Some one that reconditions cylinder heads might be able to guide you in the right direction.

I think he just means chemical cleaning...

Go to your nearest mechanic and ask who they use. there will be someone not to far away.

Try some Mr Muscle on it. Don't leave it too long or it will eat the aluminium.

Diesel!! if your not after brand new expectation but wanting it as clean as it gets, this works best next to high concentrated truck degreaser.. get a tuff brush scrubber too if the gunk is stubborn, Tuff but try not to use metal scurbs unless u find that u need too...

or just sand blast it and be done with a new paint job =p

I think sandblasting the inside of a rocker cover would be a bad idea. There are baffles in the covers which would hold beads that would find themselves into the engine. Which would suck.

Any and all cylinder and engine reconditioners will have an acid bath. Tends to leave a nice uniform, matte finish to anything dipped.
