My First Car As A Gift :)

Well, I've been on JDMST for a few months now and everyone seems so friendly. Such a nice forum to be on. Anyways, I've finally decided to make a little car diary of my car. Nothing much. So as you can see, I have a suzuki swift as a birthday present from my father. I owe him heaps! Thanks dad btw!

Yeah. Being an ex-nissansilva.com member, I was a big fan of the s13 and s15. I was 15 and haven't even got my L's yet! :L So I was really keen on an S15 autech but they were so expensive. There were a few that I found on carpoint which were pretty decent. Well I asked my dad if it was good. Being an asian parent, he gives me that look, "Nah nissan no good! Import no good!" I didn't know he wasn't a fan of nissans but he did say he liked skylines. LOL. So that was down the bin. Looked at quite a few other p plate cars. Asked around and browsed JDMST member rides and car sales part. Here was a list of what I was choosing from:

    *Nissan Silvia Autech S15
    *Nissan Silvia Autech S15 Varietta
*Nissan 350GT/Infinity V35 (which later became prohibited)
    *Nissan S13
    *Nissan Skyline N/A
    *Honda S2k
    *Honda Civic Type R (FN2R/EP3)
    *Honda Integra Type R/S (DC2R/DC5R/DC5S)
    *Honda Prelude
    *Toyota Supra N/A (JZA80)
*Toyota Sprinter Hachi Roku (Initial D )
*VW Golf R32 (still want one of does)
    *Audi TT 3.2L V6
    *Mazda RX-8

Well, my dad didn't like any of them or they were too expensive. --"
Then I was down to pretty much no options. Found a Honda Jazz that was on sale for $16,000 but my dad being a low baller, got it down to $12,000. But then the seller was stupid enough to go on holidays when we were about to put down a deposit. So we ditched it.

Running out of option, we went to look at new cars instead. Choosing between honda jazz and suzuki swift. Asian of course buys the cheaper one which was the Swift. 10k difference. Wow :O I was kinda happy and sad, but I palmed myself in the face. "You got a car goddammit! Why so sad for." So yeah. Gotta learn to love your car.

Bought the car in February. Excited when we got the keys.
So March came and 2 days after my bday, did the L's test. Passed with full marks under 5mins. So I was pretty happy.

So the swift was actually really easy to drive. Like really really easy. Great for my L's but it was an automatic. :O My dad said "Automatic first. Then manual." He was the one buying the car so I had no say. I must say, it's not a very fuel efficient car. Get 250-300km on half a tank. :/

    Suzuki Swift RE4 (Rally Edition 4) 2010 Model (ZC21S M15A)
    *1.5L VVT 4cyl engine
    *Automatic
    RE4 came with additions:
*Keyless door entry and engine start
    *Rear spoiler
    *Side mirror indicator
*Upgraded steering wheel material and controls
    *Climate control
    *Improved design of radio
    *16" alloys
    *RE4 sports seats
    *Floor mats

Yo. So on the 4th of April, which was this Monday, I did my driving test for my red p's. God it was nerve-racking but I passed on the first go with only losing 1 mark! Big grin on my fast when he told me. "Where did you learn to drive so safe?" Anyways, my dad was happy that I passed.

So later in the afternoon, the car had traveled 6,500km since we bought it last year in Feb. So my dad decided to do the oil change himself. Funny thing was we did not have jacks or stands and the quite was quite low for stock car. So this is what happened.

OMG bricks! LOOOOL. So up it went on bricks.

Popped open the hood and checked the oil.

    Engine bay.

So he unscrewed the screw under the engine to let the oil run out.

    Dirty crap.

    My dad under the car.

Mobil 1 oil. My dad says its really good compared to castrol.

In with the new oil. So clean!

Off the bricks and safely back on the ground.

Made a bit of a mess.

All done so we were good. Hopefully feeling the umph later on the week when I drive.

I must say, the stock exhaust is ugly.

Btw, anyone have rims they wanna sell? I don't want anything over 500 just for rims. Tight budget. Specs: 17"x7" PCD 4x100 if it has tyres with 90% tread, we'll talk. Must be near new cond with no/little gutter gash. Just PM me! Cheers guys!

That's an awesome first car, you should be really thankful. Confused though why he's doing the services himself on a brand new car and not by the dealer to keep it under warranty?
