Pho Tau bay is ok, its broth is not stocky enough and lacks the aroma of a well made broth. The rice noodles used are too thin and somedays you might get the scrappy noodles (short broken strands.)
Not saying its bad but it will do if your hungry.
I stand by Pho An as 1 of the best in Sydney if not the best.Noodles are right, broth is stocky and aromatic.

Stay away from anywhere that serve a variety ie. Pho,Bun bo Hue, Rice etc. They are not specialised in pho or bun bo hue or any soup based noodles(these dishes have there own characteristics and it needs to be spot on and not half arsed) and often use the same base broth except they add a paste or flavoring to replicate either the taste of pho or bun bo hue.

Pho Tau Bay gives quite a lot which is a good thing. But I've always loved Pho at Bankstown! Never seems to fail for me

Pho An is a rip off. If Pho cost more than $10, go somewhere else.

Yep. Big arse rip off. Many places i go to will put an egg in for free if i'd like one, these guys put a surcharge on for anything extra, no matter how small. Im not talking about 20-50cents either, a few bucks at least.

They also put a surcharge on for public holidays. The only pho place that does that.

Stock is shitty. Noodles always taste old and crappy. Don't put in alot of meat etc.

The only good thing is that whenever you order something, it comes out before you can even finish your order. Which i believe shows no care in making your meal

    It is massively overated.

Yeah I dunno how anyone could even rate pho an .. I wouldn't feed it to my dog and it is expensive.

A favourite of mine is Thang Long in Bankstown (just down the road from Pho an)

I guess there is a degree of personal taste involved but I like mine with flavour... there are some others I like in Cabra and B'town but that place always does it for me, their stock is always top notch as is the beef.

Would like to get out and try some more.. <3 my Pho

Good discussion here! I'm yet to try Pho An in Bankstown!
There seem to be mixed thoughts about that place, either really good or really bad :S

Pho Tau Bay, planning to try on Friday!

Thang Long is a hit and miss, it's either really good or really bad. Or it could be due to how hungry I am at the time...

But in Bankstown, I find Thang Long to have the best pho out of the 3-4 places.

Pho Pasteur in Parra opposite the station is quite nice.

The only good thing about Pho An, is that it looks clean, and has fast service.

    Haven't had Pho in Cabra.

Coming from someone who is viet...My vote would be for Pho Tau Bay. I simply do not get the fuss over Pho an. Have tried pho in springvale and footscray no where near as good as Sydney.
