Wheel spacers for Evo TME [is finally installed]

    Hey all,

I'm looking at getting wheel spacers for my Evo TME.

I am set with keeping the original wheels but want to increase the 'track width' of the car and also to 'fill' the guards. Suspension is stock and I plan to keep it this way for a while.

If anyone could confirm what spacers/adapters that are suitable, it'd help me out a lot. Furthermore - any issues with using spacers/adapters (handling/ride quality etc etc)?

Please help - Thanks for the time.

    King Regards
    derku

note: first time OP for me here so hope its in appropriate section.

See, looks weird with the wheels so far in - would like to spread them out a bit more.
Again, concerned about the effects of installing them hence I decided to post and ask before jumping into buying things.

Get bolt on spacers, 15mm should make it +23 offset which will bring it out to almost flush. Pretty sure the TME wheels are +38 right? Maybe go 20mm for abit of poke.

It also depends on wheel design though, my Work 11FT's are only +28 and it sticks outside the guards.

Ive got 20mm bolt on spacers on the rear (wheels sit flush and there is a bit of negative offset) but this is using advan RG's offset which is +37 I'm pretty sure. I'm gonna test fit the 20mm on the front tomorrow to see if it fits with the guards and inner lining, I'll try remember to post some pics up

@Nathg, appreciate the photos a lot and wow. The front looks really neat and tidy, im hoping the back will sit flush similar to the front. Im just concerned the tires will scrub with that much poke - especially on the rears with 20mm.

Thought of a cheap idea to test 'poke' for anyone confused about what size spacers/adaptors they need:
Use M12 nuts(or anything slightly larger than your wheel stude diameter) between the hub and wheel as 'washers' just to see aproximately how it looks.

    Post back later this week.

I've been thinking the same thing, the stock wheels look great. Just hate how the look when they're so far sunken.

Though I'm hesitant running spacers on the car, just don't want to add extra stuff for the police to have a whinge about.

What stock wheels do you have? I haven't run the spacers with my evo7 wheels yet, but I highly doubt they'd be as visible ad they are behind the RG's. The other week when I got pulled over, the cop said nothing about them..

stock TME wheels. It'll be pretty obvious with the thin spokes...

Yeah fair enough, mm I dunno, down to the discretion of the police I guess. But I've seen people spray the spacers along with the hats of the brake rotors, and they look like a whole complete unit

So posting later this week became early next week...

I used washers for 10mm bolts just to 'test' out spacing and found that I could only use maximum 5 washers = 12mm approx over the studs until I ran out of thread to bolt on the wheels.

Comparison of stock with 12mm 'spacers':

Idea of testing spacers: Did this on all 5 studs; wouldnt recommend driving like this =p

...and a bit of fun when my wheels were off...

Tommi Makinen wheels on the newer lancer for the curious ones

I'm leaning towards the 20mm considering the factory guards of the Evo are so aggressive.

Thanks Nathg and everyone else for the help.

Post photos again when I get some spacers (probably in 2-4 weeks).

    Kind Regards
