True true. I spent just over $2k in the first month that I had my Evo.
I don't regret buying it even though there are strict defect rules. However there should be some leniency.
I think it's all about making income for the government or state.... Why is it they still allow mechanics to still make your car faster? Why dont they put their foot down on them also?

I did my tints at 15% and got a receipt for it!

Oh well..... I guess just enjoy the ride and hope if you do get pulled over, it's by a good officer!

I wish I could. But thats never going to happen. So I decided that I am going to get a rural property with plenty of acreage so I can drag, drift and shoot to my hearts content.

I got an EPA notice this morning for my loud exhaust. I hate it as well personally. I'm very thankful the cop was just a normal bloke and NOT A FU(Khead.

Im pretty sure no one here wants to break the law. We just wish those laws didn't exist.

Eventually I'm gonna get a BMW 1M. Reflash, coilovers and wheels, and fun. No more hassle from cops and no random breakdowns

Check your receipt. It'll say something like "Not for use on public roads.", "Not for road use." or "For race use only.".

    Don't be naive.

Come on JDM CREW, let's all work together and organise a friendly meet. We'll make entry $10 and all money go to a charity! I would love to then see Tracey comment....
its been done already. they were invited to Cruise for Kids, they all declined.

Define to a level that you want? I'm not condoning the report, just playing devils advocate.

There are rules for a reason in relation to modifying cars. I have a baby due in September and if he was woken up in the middle of the night because my next door neighbour has an overly loud exhaust I would get the shits. You say it's modding a car to your liking. I say it's keeping me awake at night.

My biggest issue is with people who modify their cars and don't know how to work on it properly. I've seen so many dodgy mods on cars that have then caused failures. I am all for making your car your own, but I think there aren't enough measures in place that ensure the mods done to cars are fitted in a way that ensures they are safe. If the police need to randomly check cars to ensure they are roadworthy I don't have an issue with that. Rules are there for a reason and they are generally for the good of the community. There are plenty of ADR approved exhaust systems and suspension modifications that can be fitted to cars. JASMA is a very important criteria for Japanese tuners. You don't have to look too far to find something that will actually still be road legal. Some of the cars I've seen on these stories are shitboxes that I wouldn't jump into the passenger seat. You can't expect to trust the driver if you don't trust the work carried out on the car.

I know I sound like an old fart, but your perspective changes when kids come along.

What about ride height, pods and wheels? I've read all about height changing crumple zones and shit like that.

But I don't get how the flying fuck changing from 16s to 18s is going to affect any kunt on the road... And has anyone seen a pod "catch on fire"?

    Hi Sam,
Mate I absolutely agree with what you said and no you don't sound like an old fart. I personally have not done or spent as much as some guys here and the stuff that I have done had been under supervision by a experienced mechanic.
The police should be targeting the idiots that drive 100 in a 50 zone not someone who has 15% tints. I have a exhaust that you might say its loud and my neighbours do have two kids who go to school, when I'm near my house my car is in neutral and rolling, the most sound you get is for 5 seconds that I go up my driveway.

I just want to ask a police officer if e.g having 15% tints is illegal, why still make it available on the market?
In my opinion at the end of the day for the state is all about REVENUE!
