    manifold to suit sr20det.

so ive got so many things running through my head about what to do with my motor (S15 SR20DET) that im putting in my car by the end of the year, im going to run a gt2860rs turbo, but im unsure of what kind of manifold to use, (will be low mount) but ive herd that stainless steel is crap? the motor internals will be pretty standard besides some poncams. any of the DET guys out there with advice on this would be much appreciated. thanks

TBH with a GT 2860 the stock manifold will be more reliable and work fine for the power figures you'll get. You wont have to worry about ABS heat sheilding as well.

Stock manifold is good. No need to upgrade for what you have planned.

And as stated above, you have to worry about heat shields etc.
The less you have to fuck around with the better.

Not worth getting a s/s manifold you reckon? Not even for future power figures?

My Tomei stainless manifold has never cracked. And it's been abused.

If you went stainless, I wouldn't bother with anything but a Tomei manifold. China spec ones are rubbish. Either stick with the standard one, or if you want to ignore everyone and still go stainless, then get a Tomei one. Simple.

I know this is an SR topic, but i thought id throw in my 2 cents (evo owner)

I think i would have been one of the first to buy a brae steampipe manifold for my Evo (4G63), I needed to replace my Tomei unit which had cracked and was leaking like a sieve. Plans changed and I sold the Brae mani to a mate; he goes to fit it and it doesnt line up properly. Brae was happy to help, he paid to have both faces of the manifold planed/machined to fit. My mates car had no noticeable power gains over his ported stock set up, and after 2 weeks the thing was already starting to rust (the heat proof coating was also rubbing off showing the rust). Safe to say my mate wasn't happy, I wouldnt buy Brae made again (neither would he)

As mentioned I had a Tomei unit, 18 months into ownership the thing had cracks in the welds and was leaking. I had the SS heat shield too which is supposed to prevent water from hitting the hot manifold (water + heat > never a good idea obviously). On Evo's, the manifolds are notorious for cracking etc (something I wasnt aware of at the time of purchase). I expected better out of a big brand name like Tomei

I now have a Toxic Fabrications manifold on the Evo; best thing i have ever bought for the car. The car makes crazy power (279aw stock block, stock turbo, stock cams, no headwork whatsoever > just bolt on mods with a 'restrictive' Tomei exhaust) over the old set up and its all due to the manifold

Anyways, to cut a long story short; i say pay that little bit extra and get a quality SS manifold fabbed up from a reputable company i.e. FullRace etc. Mine set me back $1200 delivered, best money i have ever spent. F#ck all that chinese ebay crap; I'm yet to see anyone make decent power with one, just wasting more $$$

Get on Nissan Silvia and PM Rex Kelway. Made me a steam pipe manifold for my TD06. He can make whatever you want.

In my opinion he's just as good as 6Boost, but a shit load cheaper.
