Cars you wished you bought when you had the chance but didn't.
Ok, can't sleep and thought of this thread the other day.. So here it is.
What are some of the cars that you had the chance to buy but for some reason didn't and now looking back wish you did.
For me, back in about '92 not long after I got my licence a family friend was selling her Toyota Corolla Sprinter.
1984 model, silver, immaculate all over, stock as a rock. Had 50,000km on it.
Always had a soft spot for AE86's, and that price now won't even get you a shell. LOL
Instead I bought my brothers 89 Prelude Si because it was newer and had the wank 4wheel steering.
If I was a few years older, even my old mans VL Calais turbo Wagon - manual. Rare as, as there was only 200 made in all specs (6, turbo 6 and V8) OR his previous VK Calias Director
In 2002 for a replacement from my written off Satria GTi, I was looking at AWD turbos (back before the market was flooded with imports) and a few Pulsar GTi-R's and a Mazda Familia GTR.. Found a nice stocker GTR, was really keen on it but then bought another Satria GTi.. (forehead slap)
So given the chance to buy that car you always wanted, what would it be?
A Valiant Charger - back when I got my licence in 2002 a decent 6 cylinder Charger was around $5k. A scrappy one (as rough as the Suzuki Gti I bought instead) was circa $3k. My old man (probably rightly) said I wouldn't be able to afford to run it. Now the values have gone up to the point where it is unlikely I will be able to buy one ever
I wish I'd never sold my mk1 Suzuki Gti though - no rust at all despite the really rough paint, but had a weird problem with the idle and start up. Sold it for $2100 and found out later that the problem was likely caused by air in the cooling system tripping the temp sensor out. In the next couple years when I have more shed space I will hopefully pick up another - they haven't gone up in value but I think I will struggle to find one!
