    30th March 2013

During Easter time I decided to have a crack at relocating the fuse box to the inside of the passengers footwell, here is the loom I need to relocate inside the car.

Eww look at all those webs

To be able to move the fuse box in I had to remove the dash so that I can easily snake the fuse box wires in the cabin.
Here are a couple of pics that bolt in the centre of the car, it was quite challenging to remove and yes the dash has cracks where that bolts goes

Blower -> AC Evaprator -> Heater Box

After finally removing the blower I could access the fuse box wiring

    (Dodgyness incoming!!!)
When the dash was removed I managed to move most of the harness inside the car except for the starter and alternator wires so I got a cable joiner and some 8 gauge wire I believe (can't remember was so long ago) and basically put the two wires in the joiner and hex keyed them up so they don’t fallout (this was not the best idea so this stuck in the back of my head for quite some time)

    The Cable Joiner

About to cut off the lug for the starter

Starter and new cable (Aluminum tin ughhh)

All joined up nice and sung (I think...)

    Finished... (yuck)

When that was done (tried to forget about that bad install) I snaked the wiring into the cabin where the fuse box would sit.

    Feeding the starter wire through

Both starter and alternator wires extended and fed through

Shot of where the fuse box is going to be installed along with the cables

Now was time to make a bracket for the fuse box one bracket would bolt to the ECU and the other bracket on the AC evaporator box, so I went in the garage and got to work!!

Flat steel sheet with the line measured and ready to be cut!

Cut for mounting into one side of the fuse box

    Checking and testing...

The other bracket bit more difficult to do.

Again measuring and cutting to get what I need

The bends that need to be done

The straight piece I cut first is now bent to shape

    Another view...

And here are both the brackets installed on the factory mounts on the fuse box!

When the brackets for the fuse box were done I could then measure how much wiring I needed for the starter and alternator so I cut them and use vice grips to crimp them (seriously how dodgy do I get?)
Then I kinda cover the wire in the engine (very poorly) then then bolt the dash all other components back in here is version 1 of the fuse box relocation.

    Alternator and Starter crimped

    Kinda protected wiring... (Not!)

    Installed Fuse Box

    Passenger View

For the initial test I turned the key and everything still started so I would say it is a success, still I had all these thoughts in my head that it would never start or crank haha

After doing the fuse box relocate and enjoying it for a couple of days I ended up removing quite an amount of needed brackets / pieces from the engine bay. as you can see they started to pile up

    So many brackets and clips!

    3rd May 2013

One day I was so bored I decided to make a side plate bracket so I headed off to Bunnings to get some thick heat treated aluminium and went to town with a cardboard box get mock up measurements and where I needed to bend the bracket and where it would be fastened.

Measuring and squaring everything up (doge is there like “much measure” “such precision”)

Measures on how far the plate would sit near front grill

Mockup on cardboard so easy to work with

Double Checking measurements before I start cutting

Somewhat finished product still needed to do some fine adjustments

Test fitting still much more adjusting haha

After bending the bracket and cutting the left over pieces off here is the final result (also managed to get a bonnet bra nice!)
