Wow stan...looks amazing, but its almost the bittersweet end of and era. I'll stick my head over the fence next time i'm driving past!
Saw it in the flesh today in its usual spot Stefan, and had to look twice just to be sureLooks good for a backyard job, well done

awesome work stefan.. totally awesome..
I have the week off & its been raining. I was hoping to be able to tinker with the car a little bit.
So I decided to raise the rear suspension for some extar suspension travel. (I must be getting old)
gees that took all of 20 min
took me almost as long to resize & upload the pics![]()
after
needs to settle a bit. Now need to take it for a drive![]()
So....did you just whack the car upwards with that big sledgehammer?![]()
Not Quite
I have Adjustable Konis which have 3 preset settings. The cup which holds the spring is held in place by a Circlip. I used the handle of the sledgehammer handle to force the cup upwards & & move the criclip to the higher position. Its about 8mm higher
I'll get a pic I've just returned from a 40km Hoon...(errr drive)
Here you can see the shock with the cup that holds the spring. The cup is held in place by a clip. Just below the cup you can see a grove which is the lowest setting.
It is now at the higest setting. So all i did was force the cup higer & moved the circlip to the highest setting. To lever it I used the handle from the sledge hammer.
so this is how it now looks with the suspension settled back into place. Thats about 8mm extra travel before it starts to hit the bumpstops.
It may be just my mind but I did the front a few months ago. so maybe I aslo mucked about a little with the ballance of the whole car.
It appeared a little more stable even though its now higher but its defenatley a little better over big bumps
Still looking good Stefan! Must a pretty strong clip if it's holding the whole suspension setup in place....
You're not going to return Craig's hardtop, are you..?![]()
well....It was the beginning of the final Journey.
I couldn't help myself. I was supposed to hire a popper buffer wheel. I have a hep of buffing compound at a friends place in the Blue mountains. I had spare cash & some sqare time. So off i went to Auto 1 & bought some 1500 sanding paper a few maquire applicators & buffing compound. I was just going to do a little bit......honest.....I swear to god.
i sanded back the boot lid. as i knew it had a lot of paint on it. I sanded until there no bumps left with 1500 grid. It didn't take too long. then attacked half the bootlid with the applicator pad & buffing compound. Then came the polish & finally the wax. Couln't believe the result. I was stocked. eventually did the beaver panel rear bumper & 1 rear side panel.
Tonight I'm happy as larry.![]()
