Default Digital Torque Wrench/Ratchet

Dunno where I should be posting this at all!
Was gonna post it on for sale, but then i'm not really selling anything lolz

But found this while I wasn't doing much at work and price seems quite reasonable and looks pretty good

Good for tightening wheel nuts and not overtightening (something I had done and had to get 2 studs drilled out >< ><):

1/2dr Digital torque wrench:
530mm length
40-200nm torque
http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/1-2-...torgue-wrench/

3/8dr Digital torque wrench:
380mm length
27-135nm torque
http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/3-8-...torque-wrench/

Not too sure what these will be used for, but maybe tightening bolts in the engine bay to a certain torque needed:

1/2dr Digital torque wrench:
440mm length
40-200nm torque
http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/1-2-...gital-ratchet/

3/8dr Digital ratchet:
310mm length
27-135nm torque
http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/3-8-...gital-ratchet/

Would have bought one to try and review if I didn't already get a non-digital one! >< ><
Anyone wanna buy and use and review?? haha

i dont trust electronic ones
at least if its mechanical it narrows down the amount of parts that can fail

we had big issues with the digital blue point ones
a battery fault caused incorrect readings which caused a leaky head gasket

Mechanical FTW

Shii i would have assumed the elec ones would have been more accurate/reliable, increased complexity prompts greater liability i guess.

Gotta make sure you grease up all your nuts when torqing them down/make sure the object you are working on doesnt more under the force (eg block) to get accurate results.

Lay off the crystal meth?

I wil NEVER - EVER - NEVER EVER use a digital torque wrench. I wouldnt even use one to put together my mums sewing machine!

You can never go past a mechanical torque wrench. Sound and feeling of the click or snap. You know its done, and its right.

On that subject, a mechanical torque wrench can be calibrated or simply tested with a calibration certificate. You know it will be accurate until you drop it on the floor or similar.

The digital ones can be affected by battery voltage and temperature. Even in my stint as a mechanic for the supercrs, we would never touch a didgtal torque wrench. Simply cant be trusted!

No, make sure the entry of the tread is lubed. If you lube the bolt, the lubricant or grease can stick to the end of the stud/bolt and cause compression/hydraulic lock on the bottom of the bolt. Givinng an inaccuarte torque result.

Always torque close to the number, then back it off, then torque again. The bolt has then given its inital tensile stretch (if its new) and your double checking.
